How They're Made

Every lamp is a labor of love. I start by hand-selecting weathered teak wood for its natural grain and texture. Then, I meticulously place the hand-sculpted marine life into a custom mold. I use a high-clarity, UV-resistant deep sea resin that I pour in several thin layers to prevent bubbles. Each lamp takes over 14 hours to cure, followed by four stages of professional sanding and polishing to get that crystal-clear, glass-like finish. Because of the natural wood, no two lamps are ever exactly the same.

Keep It Beautiful

To keep your ocean glowing for years, follow these simple tips:

• Cleaning: Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth to wipe away dust or fingerprints. Avoid harsh chemicals or glass cleaners, as they can dull the resin over time.

• Sunlight: Keep your lamp away from prolonged, direct sunlight. While I use UV-resistant resin, constant sun can eventually cause the colors to fade.

• Heat: Avoid placing the lamp near high-heat sources (like radiators).

• Fingerprints: If the resin gets smudged, a tiny drop of mild soapy water on a damp cloth followed by a dry buff will restore the shine instantly.

    A Little Story About My Oceanic Origins

    Everyone told me I was just a surfer dude with no future. My girlfriend left, my parents said no to moving back, and I had zero dollars.

    But I had the ocean and a dream, and so i focused on what i love and that is the ocean.

    So, in that old white van behind me, I learned how to mix colors just right. I learned which wood looks best. I learned how to build custom art with resin and wood.

    A lot of work goes into making one little piece of the ocean glow. Every lamp is unique. I mix every color and place every shark, whale, turtle, etc. by hand. It takes 14 slow hours just for the resin to set.

    Oceanic Origins is just me, trying to share a moment of peace and passion and a reminder to do what you love even when everyone tells you the opposite. When your lamp glows, remember that even when everything falls apart, you can always build something beautiful that shines.
